it's a bit more complicated than that. you have to dissect down to the trachea, create an opening to insert the tube in, and then suture it into place. then you have to get a portable chest x-ray to make sure it is properly in place.

then i got to scrub in on a tracheostomy. dr. bene had me suctioning and retracting - it was so much fun. i love how i completely get off on my job.

a nap would be nice once the adrenaline wears off. i have been up for 24 hrs.
